Bridget Welsh is an independent scholar and political analyst currently based in Kuala Lumpur. She is currently an Honorary Research Associate with the University of Nottingham Asia Research Institute Malaysia (UoNARI-M) based in Kuala Lumpur. She is also a Senior Research Associate of the Hu Feng Center for East Asia Democratic Studies of National Taiwan University and a Senior Associate Fellow of The Habibie Center. She specializes in Southeast Asian politics, with a focus on Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Indonesia.
Elina Noor is Director, Political-Security Affairs and Deputy Director, Washington, D.C. Office at the Asia Society Policy Institute. A native of Malaysia, Elina’s work focuses on security developments in Southeast Asia, global governance and technology, and preventing/countering violent extremism.
Mark Disney, a former President of the Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia, will be moderating the session alongside Abbernaa Kukananthan, a first year student at Cambridge studying Human, Social and Political Sciences, and Parin Siddhartha, a second year student at Oxford studying Philosophy and Psychology.
